Uinti
COMPETITIVE SWIMMING IN OUR CLUB
Uinti Tampereessa uses a level-based coaching system. Level-based coaching means that swimmers train together with others of the same age and skill level. In this system, swimmers generally move to the next group once they meet the age and level criteria. In addition, swimmers are placed within each level into a group whose training volume matches the swimmer’s level and motivation. This ensures suitable training challenges and training partners of the same age. For coaches, it provides the opportunity to specialize in coaching a specific age group.

ROLLOTASO
Rollo-uinnit, eli nuorimpien ikäluokkien mestaruuskilpailut
The main goal of the swimming year for the Rollo groups is the Rollo competitions and camp. The age category is 10–13 years, and swimmers can join the Rollo group when they have mastered the techniques of backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle, as well as the dolphin kick of butterfly. Most new members have completed the Rollo School (formerly the competitive swimming school).
Swimmers are placed into level groups based on age and the number of weekly training sessions. There are three groups, with training sessions ranging from three to six times per week, depending on the swimmer’s stage of development and motivation.

IKM-TASO
Ikäkausimestaruuskilpailut
At the age-group championship level for 14–16-year-olds, the main competitions of the season are the Age Group Championship competitions. The goal is to qualify for the national finals of the Age Group Championships and to succeed there. Another goal is to meet the qualifying times for the Junior Finnish Championships.
At the age-group championship level, swimmers are divided into groups primarily based on the number of weekly training sessions. The most advanced swimmers take part in the Tampere small academy morning practices. Uinti Tampere also offers the opportunity to swim with more moderate goals at this level, in which case the number of weekly training sessions is lower.

SM-TASO
Nuorten ja aikuisten Suomenmestaruuskilpailut
The youth Finnish Championship level in swimming is divided into four different groups. The club’s young swimmers are divided into girls’ and boys’ representative groups, a Youth Finnish Championship group, and a Youth Finnish Championship recreational group. This division enables goal-oriented training towards a top-level swimming career, while at the same time offering an opportunity for lower-threshold participation. The youth representative groups correspond to the upper secondary school phase and last from four to five years. After upper secondary school, the most motivated and best swimmers move up to the club’s representative group at around the age of 20. In the representative group, the aim is to reach national and international elite level.
For swimmers who have met the qualifying standard, the main goal of the season is the Youth Finnish Championships for those under 18, and the Finnish Championships for adult swimmers. For the club’s best swimmers, the main goal of the season may, after achieving the qualifying standards, be the Nordic Championships or the European/World Championships.
