Developing Swimming School – Swimming as a Hobby from an Early Age

Uinti Tampere ry will renew its swimming school activities in autumn 2026. The aim is to make swimming an even more child‑centred and long‑term hobby for children and to make everyday life easier for families.

What is changing?

  • Swimming schools will switch to monthly billing.
Seasonal fees will be discontinued, and the hobby will continue smoothly from month to month without separate re‑registrations.
  • Swimming is viewed as a hobby right from the start.
The child can progress at their own pace according to their skills and readiness, without breaks caused by seasons.

Why is the change being made?

  • Forgotten registrations or fully booked groups have previously interrupted many children’s hobbies.
  • In the new model, the swimming school takes care of continuity: instructors and the office will find a suitable group for the child and support transitions from one level to the next.
  • The child can queue for the next level, and the transition will take place as soon as a place becomes available.

Instructors supporting the child’s development

  • Groups are led by trained and experienced instructors.
  • The child’s progress is monitored continuously.
  • When changing levels, in addition to swimming skills, age, self‑confidence, motor development and group dynamics are taken into account.

This is how billing works

  • Registration for autumn 2026 will still be done in the familiar way.
  • At the time of registration, the fees for August and September are paid.
  • Monthly billing starts in September (in September, the fee for October is paid, and so on).
  • The course fee is an annual fee, which is divided evenly into 9 invoices (August–April) for the 10‑month season.

With the reform, the aim is to make the swimming school a safe and inspiring hobby for the child and, for parents, an effortless way to support the child’s physical activity and swimming skills.

Activities under the new concept will start in autumn 2026 – registration opens on 11 May (pre‑registration for current members opens on 27 April).
